One aspect that does strike me as understated in the report is the importance
of nanoscale object manipulation. Although some mention has been given towards
utilisation SPM, AFM, STM and nanotweezers, these are relatively slow and cumbersome
procedures. I believe that it will be necessary to address the issue of "non-contact"
manipulation towards improvement of nanoscale object manipulation for say integrating
into electronic circuitry. Two avenues currently presented are magnetic (magnetic
force microscopy - sample requires ferromagnetic component) and optical tweezers
(sample size restrictions). Whilst they present their own inherent difficulties,
further research into these avenues may release their potential as a means towards
fine control of movement on the nanoscale.
I hope this is viewed in the light of positive criticism.
