My main comment is that this report nowhere mentions the importance of electron microscopy in nanoscience and nanotechnology. At the nano level, simply to see and image what has been fabricated, requires the use of advanced electron microscopy. Scanning probe microscopy is important for looking at surface structure, but for looking within the bulk of the nanostructures, advanced transmission electron microscopy is essential.
I believe it is important that the Report mentions and recognises the key role advanced electron microscopy has in characterising (and also in some cases fabricating) nanoscience and nanotechnology structures.
